Overview
Study “Hotel & Tourism Management” at ITM and achieve an Austrian State Diploma within 2 years! Our study programme is focused on students motivated and dedicated to becoming future professionals in the Hospitality Industry. It is available for a selected number of 25 students per year coming from all over the world.
The small number ensures an individual focus and therefore guarantees a high-quality education in an ever-growing industry. After the completion of the two-year programme our students are prepared for a successful career in Austria, Europe and around the globe!
1st Study Year
From your first day at ITM you will be part of an open-minded and international community. The administrative staff will ensure a smooth start of the programme that you can focus on your studies and on meeting your new classmates.
During your first study year you will cover a broad field of Tourism and Management related subjects, just as well as Languages and Media. Practical Training, Cooking and Restaurant Management round off the course programme by combining theory and practise.
The aim of the first study year is for students to gain a professional understanding of tourism business organisations, integrating departmental responsibilities and cross-functional management skills. Furthermore, English as the primary language worldwide will be improved by practising business vocabulary essential for an international career. Communication in between our student community will smoothen your proficiency of language use.
After your first study year it is time for experience, a 13-week internship placement will give you that chance!
Internship
Between the 1st and 2nd study year, students have to undertake a 13-week paid internship. The application process starts already during your first study year by writing a professional CV and job application. Continuously guided by a responsible lecturer you will find a suitable internship placement in one the following fields: Restaurant & Service, Cooking, Travel Agency Management, and many more.
During this training, you will get an insight into tourism related enterprises and have the possibility to gather valuable experience for your future career. You not only get a chance to apply and enhance what you have learned during your first year at ITM, but also to create a future business network, that can support your career after graduation.
2nd Study Year
As your time at ITM will pass quickly, you will be welcomed back after your internship at the ITM campus in Bad Vöslau. Within the first weeks you will prepare your internship reports and share your experiences with your class and lecturers.
Furthermore, you will go more in depths and broaden your knowledge of what you have learned already, especially with a focus on Business Administration, Accounting, Controlling and Restaurant and Service Management. In addition, you will have new exciting subjects such as Event Management, where you learn how to organise and run specific venues.
You will write your Business Plan and study for your final exams, in order to be well prepared to pass your Diploma Examination. After the successful graduation you are ready to start your career! Our diploma equips you with a license for the hospitality industry and enables you to open your own business in Austria or Europe.
Otherwise, you can continue your studies and go for a Bachelor and further a Master degree.
Further Bachelor Possibilities
To further complete your education, you can continue your studies at one of our partner universities. Our partners credit a certain amount of the ITM diploma programme and enable ITM graduates to achieve a Bachelor Degree within 1-1.5 years.
