Each year, we welcome a small and select group of 30 international students, ensuring a personalised and high-quality learning experience.

Through a balanced combination of theory and practice, our curriculum prepares graduates for successful careers in Austria, Europe, and around the globe. With a strong focus on international hospitality standards, business management, and hands-on training, ITM provides the ideal foundation for a future in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Academic Pathway

1. Study Year

From your first day at ITM, you will be part of an open-minded and international community. Our administrative team ensures a smooth start so that you can focus on your studies and meet your new classmates.

During your first study year, you will cover a broad field of Tourism and Management-related subjects, as well as Business Communication and Media. Practical training in Restaurant and Service Management, as well as Cooking, rounds off the curriculum and is essential for a career in the industry.

The goal of the first study year is to develop a professional understanding of tourism business organisations, integrating departmental responsibilities and cross-functional management skills. A key element of the first year is improving language proficiency, particularly in English and German, as these are essential for a career in Austria or abroad. Interaction within our diverse student community fosters communication skills and enhances language fluency.

Internship

Between the first and second study year, students must complete a 13-week paid internship. The application process begins early, with professional CV writing and job application guidance from faculty. Students secure internships in fields such as Restaurant & Service, Cooking, Travel Agency Management, and other tourism-related sectors.

This experience provides valuable industry insights, allowing students to apply their first-year knowledge in a real-world setting. Additionally, the internship serves as a stepping stone for building a professional network that can support career opportunities after graduation.

As your time at ITM passes quickly, you will be welcomed back on the ITM campus after completing your internship. During the first weeks back, you will prepare your internship reports and share your experiences with your classmates and lecturers.

Building upon the knowledge gained so far, you will delve deeper into key areas, particularly Business Administration, Hospitality & Tourism, and Event Management. Additionally, you will explore exciting new subjects of the curriculum.

Throughout this phase, you will work on developing your Business Plan and prepare for your final exams to ensure you are well-equipped to pass your Diploma Examination. After the successful graduation you are ready to start your career! Our diploma equips you with a license for the hospitality industry and enables you to open your own business in Austria or Europe. Alumni Stories

"Graduated from the ITM College in 1992. I initially started work as a travel agent for two years before accepting a position as a Management Trainee. As my interest gravitated towards Sales, I changed to work as a Senior Business Development Manager at The Sheraton Towers Singapore. I remained in this position for over three years before leaving the hotel industry to work in Marketing in other fields. It was an interesting diversion, but my heart was in hotel, so I returned to the industry and worked in the most illustrious hotels including Capella Singapore as Executive Assistant Manager for nine years and the legendary Raffles Hotel Singapore where I served as Director of Sales & Marketing for six years. I am now currently working as a Hotel Manager at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, Vietnam. My goal is to eventually become a General Manager. It was a long road with lots of hard work and long hours, but with the foundation I received from ITM, I managed to satisfy most of my professional aspirations."

During my years at ITM College & Wittenborg University I learned two valuable lessons. First, the term “Hospitality and Tourism Management”. I gained valuable knowledge in regard to customer satisfaction and exceptional service. Second, via ITM and Wittenborg I had the opportunity to meet great people, lecturers and fellow students. I had three amazing study years at ITM which I will always be grateful for. The knowledge which I gained about the Hospitality Industry during ITM, helped my tremendously in my professional career. The way of engaging the customer, the soft skills and the hard skills which I have been implementing consistently at my workplaces and the attention to detail. Since I started working at AIDA I have travelled to more than 30 countries and in 3 continents
